Everyday Cancer Risk and How to Avoid Them
Product details
About the Book:
Although billions of dollars are spent annually on cancer research, and dramatic new techniques for treatment and detection have been developed, the number of new cancer cases and the number of cancer deaths increase every year. The most effective solution is prevention, according to Levenstein, herself a recovering cancer victim. We can't control every factor of our surroundings, but we should be aware of the areas we can control. She divides these into three sections--food, home environment, and lifestyle--with chapters on specific subjects under each. In each chapter she includes a list of suggestions for "What You Can Do on a Personal Level" and "How To Get Involved." A bibliography lists references for each chapter. A more scholarly work is Dade W. Moeller's Environmental Health ( LJ 2/15/92).
